Procedure Improvement There were frequent comments about payment methods. Deciding what kind of payments to accept is important to many business processes. Pavan identified a problem where different methods of payment had different timing of customer database updates. This tells us that it may be necessary to analyze multiple related businesses processes at once instead of looking at just one process.

Ashwin mentioned that bank charges are an issue in accepting credit payments. This is a very important issue. I do volunteer work for the North Shore Choral Society and looking at fees for accepting Paypal and credit card payments was an interesting experience.

Industry experts: You all choose processes in an "industry" that you understood such as a University or the industry of your employer. You were able to generate good suggestions for process improvement because of your direct experience. This is why you want someone with deep industry experience on the team that defines the new business processes that will be used with SAP or other enterprise software.

Class Improvement: All comments focused on getting direct experience with SAP or other enterprise software or having a Computer Based Training course that showed the software in action or gave an opportunity to actually configure the software. About half way through this class SAP announced a University Program that I will be investigating during the summer. There may be an opportunity to get our hands on SAP software at a reasonable cost. This option involves using the software on servers controlled by SAP. You requested being able to see screen shots. I have several books with screen shots but I did not ask you to buy them because I think hands-on experience will be better. I am also considering building a case problem where you can build a web service, put it on a server, and then have other class members "consume" your service.
