GBIS751 E-commerce Week 3 Discussions

Introduction

Content Management Systems can be used to allow end users to maintain all or part of a web site. A skilled person (such as you) needs to install the software and design the overall site and determine which sections of the site will be maintained by end users. End users can then use the CMS to update and add pages without using HTML, PHP, FTP, or MySQL directly.

You have each been assigned to investigate an Open Source Content Management System. There are also proprietary and commecial systems available such as IBM Websphere but we won't be discussing them this week.

Answer your questions by Tuesday night. Try to complete your work ahead of this schedule so your classmates have more time to read your work and your questions.

W3D2 - Would you use a Content Management System? (6 points)

You are going to build a small web site to publicize your brother's small business on the web. Would you use a CMS or just write the HTML yourself? Only one posting is required in this thread but you are welcome to comment on each other's work.
