Week 4 Discussions Introduction:

W4D1:

What makes a technology disruptive? Give an example of a disruptive technology and which industries and/or companies benefitted and which industries or companies were harmed. Example: Digital recording technology disrupted the recording industry. Vinyl record producers were harmed as well as retailers that did not start selling CDs and DVDs. All Tower Records locations closed. (Find your own example -- do not not use Vinyl records!). Alternatively, you could give an example of a case where technology had a very major impact on your current employer or any place where you have worked.

W4D2:

Should departments and divisions have the responsibility of making their own IT decisions, or should IT infrastructure be centrally controlled and managed? Feel free to give examples based on your past experience or based on the organization where you are currently working.
