Why these assignments?
- It's useful to know some of the things that you can do
with Structured Query Language (Assignment 4). This helps you understand
what information you should be able to get from databases with multiple
tables. Most corporate data is stored in relational databases with multiple
tables and most of these databases can be queried with SQL.
- Not all systems in a company are built by the Information
Technology Department. You might need to create a small database that multiple
people in your department can update. (Assignment 3). Microsoft Access
is designed so that its databases can be accessed and updated by more than
one person at a time. Microsoft Excel is not designed for this.
- It's useful to have some experience with Microsoft Access
so that you have some idea of what it can do. This software is available
in many companies and on most of Dominican's computers. (Both Assignments).
