Driving to San Diego
As in Chapters 2 and 3, the movie below shows two possible routes from Chicago to San Diego . In this Chapter, there is some animated text in the Pacific Ocean calling attention to the final destination of the trip. There is an ActionScript stop() command in the last frame to keep the movie from repeating. To see the text play again, click the refresh button in your browser. When you do this, the text will play again and you will not pay the price of loading the swf again because it will already be in your browser cache.
If this were the chapter on ActionScript, you would get a Stop and and Play control.
Lessons Learned - F6 keyframe . I kept forgetting to press F6 to add a keyframe before adding the next letter to my text animation. This causes your changes to be made back in the prior keyframe whereever it may be. If you keep forgetting to press F6, you will wind up making all your changes in Frame 1 no matter where you position your playhead when you make the changes. This is especially obvious if you forget to put blank keyframe in the actions layer when you are trying to stop the movie in the last frame. In this case, the stop() action goes into frame 1 and the movie stops right away.
Bonus Leason Learned - If you use Macromedia Dreamweaver to insert your movie into your web page, it generates code for you that contains the name of your movie twice. It is a really go idea to change both occurences of the movie name when you are changing the generated statement manually. Then, you won't have to wonder why the wrong move is being loaded.
